Why does my steering wheel shake when hitting the brakes?

If you are getting a front end vibration when hitting your brakes it could be because of warped rotors. Rotors can get warped if cooled down quickly after getting hot. An example would be if your driving in stop and go traffic and applying the brakes often causing them to heat up, then you drive through a water puddle and the cool water can cause the hot rotor to cool rapidly and cause the rotor to warp. To remedy this some shops will turn rotors to give them an even plane with the brake pad but this also thins the rotor making it more susceptible to warping again even easier another time. We recommend changing the pads and rotors all together to get rid of this problem. Depending on the condition of the brake pads it may not be a safety issue though so I would have one of our shops check them for you. We offer a free brake inspection at either of our locations!
